What does my Acrobat subscription include?
Your Acrobat subscription includes a desktop application, online services and mobile apps that let you efficiently synchronise your files across devices.

What is Adobe Acrobat Classic?

Adobe Acrobat Classic is an updated version of the Acrobat desktop software, designed to replace older versions of the perpetual software. It is available as a three-year licence, non-renewable and payable in advance. Once activated, Adobe Acrobat Classic can be used offline for the duration of the licence. Adobe Acrobat Classic includes all the features of Acrobat Pro 2020, as well as additional enhancements, including a new interface, the ability to mark a document as a favourite, improved accessibility markup, and more. It does not include Adobe Document Cloud services. With Acrobat Classic, you have full access to PDF tools on your workstation only (web and mobile access excluded). If you want to take advantage of additional features and cloud services, you can choose an Acrobat subscription.

What is the difference between Acrobat Classic and Acrobat Pro?

Acrobat Pro is the essential solution for PDF files and electronic signatures. It offers the latest features for desktop, web and mobile, as well as regular security updates, feature updates and advanced tools.
Acrobat Classic is a desktop-only software that you purchase with a one-time payment. Acrobat Classic does not allow you to benefit from feature updates and does not offer web features such as electronic signatures, sharing for review, and AI features. With Acrobat Classic, paid features are not available on web browsers and mobile devices.

Does Adobe still offer the perpetual Acrobat software for sale?

No, Adobe no longer sells perpetual Acrobat software. The latest versions available for one-off purchase were Acrobat Pro 2020 and Acrobat Standard 2020.

What's new in the Acrobat Classic version in 2024?
The Acrobat Classic licence gives you up to three years' access to Acrobat desktop software. Here are the main updates since Acrobat 2020:
- New Acrobat experience: a modern interface that makes it easier to find and use PDF tools.
- Accessibility updates: improved markup to provide better accessibility for people with disabilities.
- Add a star to a document: mark documents as favourites or tag them to improve their monitoring.
- Extract non-consecutive pages: remove specific pages from a PDF file to focus on what you need.
- Security integrations: protect and label files with Microsoft Purview Information Protection (requires a separate purchase).
- Enhancements to existing features: updated editing and cropping tools, better object management in Word and PowerPoint, and a simplified protection and redaction experience.

Do I need to use the Adobe Acrobat online services if I buy Acrobat Classic?

No. You can use Acrobat Classic desktop software on its own, without using Adobe Acrobat online services.

Do I need to be online to use Acrobat Classic?

The first time you open Acrobat Classic, you need an Internet connection to activate the software. After that, you can use it offline without any problems.
